The Grand Odyssey
From January 12 to 16, 2008
Exciting adventure with a Far North flair.
The seven villages of Haute Maurienne Vanoise will welcome the 4th edition of the Grand Odyssey.
It is an international dog-sled race, and is, for the first time, a qualifying test for the Iditarod and the Yukon Quest, both known as the most difficult races in the world...
Not less than 35 teams bringing together over 350 dogs will dash across the snowy slopes of Haute Maurienne Vanoise.
This will be the occasion for the mobilization of thousands of spectators... At each stage, at the departures and arrivals: all occasions will be good ones for encouraging the teams.
Along with acitivities and outdoor bivouacs, Haute Maurienne Vanoise will also offer moments rich in discovery with, notably, the Polar Base of the 13th Battalion of Chasseurs Alpins at the summit of the Mont Cenis pass and the line of departure at Bessans.
