For thousands of years, Haute Maurienne Vanoise has been an undisputed passageway between northern and southern Europe, between France and Italy, between the valleys of the Tarentaise and Maurienne...a treasure that has forged history and the life style of this alpine valley, that has shaped the landscapes and contributed to the preservation of its natural spaces.
An exceptional mountain region, traveled through for ages, that has developed a true tradition of welcome around hiking.

The ideal itinerary to discover Haute Maurienne Vanoise, at the heart of the Vanoise National Park. You will get to know villages in stone and laminated shale, larch forests and alpine pastures, a rich Baroque heritage and living mountain know-how...a preserved environment with magnificent landscapes.
For practical purposes
Circuit in a maximum of 12 days (according to variants chosen, the circuit can be shorter) from Modane (SNCF train station); lodging in rest houses, mountain huts and other accommodations, depending on the itinerary; accessible to families and average-level hikers on a marked trail (including part of the GR 5 route); to plan between mid-June and end September.
