[Translate to English:] Le monolithe
Starting from the village of Sardières at 1500 m altitude, you walk through the streets of Sardières toward the upper part of the village. You then enter the forest, following small pathways through the pine trees.
You will soon see the Monolith, a surprising natural monument uncovered by the erosion of surrounding earth that culminates at 93 meters.
It was climbed for the first time in 1957 only, and it was at the foot of the Monolith that the Vanoise National Park, the first national park created in France, was inaugurated in 1965.
This is a relaxing family stroll in the fresh air at an easy pace through the mid-alpine level landscape with, at the end of the journey, the discovery of this strange and frequently climbed Monolith.
